covid-19 update

Covid-19 Update - Opening up the Church

We have prayerfully made the decision to resume church services while practicing physical distancing.  The staff  and leadership of Calvary Roswell have been closely monitoring public and private sources of information associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.  We believe we have been and are walking in a way of respecting the authorities in our land, but also walking in constitutionally protected activities: the freedom to assemble and worship.

Calvary Roswell will resume live services at our normally scheduled times - Sunday mornings at 8:30am and 10:30am and Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm.  And just to be clear, we will also still be streaming all these services online as well!

As we make this move, we want to first of all speak to those who are and will be uncomfortable with this.  With love, grace, honor and respect, we want to say that we understand.  We want to bless you and encourage you to continue to be a part of our services online until you find yourself comfortable with returning to attending in person. We believe that day needs to come, as in Christ we are created for relationship - first with God and then with others.  Gathering as a church is no small part of that and eventually we believe it is God’s will for believers to be actively and presently a part of church gatherings.  That said, again, we realize for some of you that this feels too soon. We do not want you to feel pressured or guilted into joining us just yet.  Please know that we love you, respect you and care about you.

Secondly, if you are unwell physically or find yourself specifically at risk in this season, we ask that you would stay home and join us online for the present time.  If you have any sickness or fever, we ask that you do not come to any live service and instead attend our online service. Please do so until at least 7 days pass after your symptoms go away.  We want to protect you and those who do gather under our care.

Thirdly, although we will be doing as much as we can to provide a safe environment, at the same time we want to speak to you about your responsibility in all this.  If you choose to attend the live service, you are responsible for your own health and accept the risk of being exposed to any number of illnesses.  Please make good decisions about whether you should attend or not. We all are responsible for our own health and need to be considerate of the health and welfare of others. We really believe that as we each try to walk wisely and in the love of Christ, that we will make better decisions about how we navigate this season than enforced rules placed over us.

Fourthly, for this season, we are making a few temporary changes in how we gather.  We expect some of these changes to be fluid we will adapt and learn as we move through this time. Nevertheless, there are a few initial things we want you to know of and expect.

- On Sunday mornigs, we do have Chidlren's minsitry in our 10:30 service, as well as nursery care in our 8:30 service.

- At this point we have not resumed our children's ministry on Wednesday nights, but we will do so soon.

- At this ponit, we are still not service food.  There will be no breakfast between services or dinner on Wednesday nights.

- We will be removing every other row of chairs in the sanctuary to help facilitate strict social distancing outlined in Phase 1 of the White House guidelines.  We encourage households to sit together and separate each household group or individual by appropriate physical distancing.  Please be courteous to create the appropriate spacing between groups of other people. We are asking that you place 2-3 chairs between you and other groups of people.

- We also will have appropriate spaces set up in our Overflow Room and our Fellowship Room for people to sit and be a part of the services there. as well as our new outdoor patio set up with a TV and sound.   Our Overflow room specifically is set aside as a "mask only room" to provide space for those who want everyone to wear masks in the space they are in.

- All common areas will be sanitized before, in-between, and after each service.

- Hand sanitizer will be available and we encourage using it upon entering the building.

- We are encouraging facemarks to be worn, per our governors request.   Yet we are not requiring them.

- We are going to be singing congregationally.  There are some of have strong concerns over this, and we understand those.  Yet, we also believe we are Biblically called to worship God with singing.  This said, we again, ask you to walk in love.  This may mean singing with a mask, or covering you moth or singing softly.  The choice is yours.

Please pray for us as we resume in-person services and gradually phase back in all the wonderful ministries that are a part of our gatherings. Each week we will evaluate what other ministries to open and will post on our web page, social media and announcements from Pastor Jim. We are looking forward to seeing many of you again as we corporately worship our Lord and Savior.

“…not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”  Hebrews 10:25

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes...Nor will cease from yielding fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8

In Christ,
